Creative Process

Gather

Time to get everything on the table. We’ll review any existing work or planning that you’ve done and determine the best way to proceed. Depending on your site this can include researching competition, evaluating software, reviewing strategic goals, face-to-face meetings, phone conferences and assigning all the tasks that will be required to accomplish the project. Once we’ve dumped everything from our heads into a set of lists and planning documents, we will have cleared a path towards putting it all together. Ultimately, we will identify a few concrete goals that we can work towards and measure quantitatively.

Design

Here’s where we do all the creative work to make the project shine. Initially, we will sketch internal wireframes on paper as reference diagrams for design the actual templates. From that base, we’ll test color schemes, typographic treatments, integrate your identity, plan navigation and bring it all together into a two sets of designs for you to review and dissect. Once you’ve chosen an artistic direction, we will go through two rounds of intensive iterations to meet your vision.

Develop

Now we will buckle down and convert the approved designs into HTML and CSS code, model your content for a database, determine specific technology needs and make something that actually works. We will also extend the look and feel to various nooks and corners of your online universe, aiming for a consistent, highly usable, interactive user experience.

Evaluate

Thorough analysis of your site’s user logs will be the vehicle for generating new ideas and improving your site. We will collect your data in both Google Analytics, for long term strategy, and Mint, for live snapshots of activity. Whether it’s a marketing push, improved page design, or new content, defined goals will let you know where to put more energy and what ideas should be abandoned.

Repeat

If a web site is an honest representation of the ideas and goals in your organization, then this process will generate new ideas, new revenue streams, even new projects. Once you’ve identified what’s worked and what hasn’t, we’ll be ready to gather everything together again and get to back to work. As we develop your site over time, we’ll get more efficient and insightful about new ways to make your site as good as it can be.
