creative direction Seamus Holman

Before starting Gridwork in 2005, I was employed as an art director for a small political magazine in Chicago. Comfortable with the control, predictability and physicality of print, my career was forever changed with the duty of managing the companion website. One thing led to another and the lure of instant gratification, dynamic information and wild-west fortunes became too much to resist. Nowadays, I spend my days battling CSS, massaging jQuery and troubleshooting ExpressionEngine to design websites.

Self-employment means working whenever (nights preferred), wherever (home, mostly, sometimes coworking or at coffeeshops), on whatever (design, accounting, project management, lots of writing, being inspired by the rest of the internet). I’m a perpetually infrequent social networker and call returner, apologies in advance.

Beyond web page makin’, I like to cook dinner, play tennis, live with cats and drive around listening to podcasts.
