Suite133
We are a small company, growing and shrinking as projects come and go. There are days where we need to put on headphones and get in the zone and days when we need to be social and talk things over with co-workers. In this economy and this industry, flexibility is more than just a virtue, it's often the difference between success and frustration. So for the first few years we worked out of coffee shops, kitchen tables, home offices and parents' guest rooms, pretty much anywhere with an internet connection. This is part of being small and being versatile, but none of these options were ideal. And it turns out we aren't alone.
In the summer of 2007, Gridwork partnered with local bloggers from Exit133 to form a co-working space in downtown Tacoma, Suite133. It's not a high-rent office with receptionists and water coolers and big color copiers, but we didn't need any of that. What we needed was a comfortable chair, clean desk, filing cabinet, space to meet occasional clients, wireless internet and not much else besides some space from the distractions of home. Frequently, we come to Suite133 and find other small companies doing lots the same things we're doing. Sometimes it's just a few individuals working on side projects, sometimes there's several teams working on overlapping projects. We share war stories, tax tips, coffee, Tootsie Pops and even the occasional client.
So if you're ever in downtown Tacoma, feel free to stop by, take a look around, show us what you're working on. And if you're a small company or freelancer looking for office space, but don't want the burden and expense of your own lease, there's plenty of room and pricing options to fit your needs.
